Ukraine is an artificial country much like Iraq create by the powers.
At various times the parts of the country have been in Poland,
Austro-Hungary, Russia and Nazis occupied for two years
till Russia forced them out. It is absurd to claim that Ukraine is
one country sharing common values, language and culture.
Go to Lviv in Western Ukraine it feels like being in Poland
and visit Kharkiv it feels like being in Russia. Westerners
agitated to be part of EU, following the same logic Easterners
and southerners can clamor to be part of Russia. There is no
valid reason to criticize one or the other. Self determination
should be the basic human right.
