Scots wha ha'e wi' Wallace bled
Scots wham Bruce has often led
Welcome to your gory bed
Or to victory
Now's the day and now's the hour
See the front o' battle lour
See approach proud Cam'ron's pow'r
Chains and slavery

Wha will be a traitor knave?
Wha can fill a coward's grave?
Wha sae base as be a slave?
Let him turn and flee!
Wha, for Scotland's king and law,
Freedom's sword will strongly draw,
Freeman stand or Freeman fa',
Let them follow me!

By oppression's woes and pains,
By your sons in servile chains,
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free.
Lay the proud usurpers low!
Tyrants fall in ev'ry foe!
Liberty's in ev'ry blow!
Let us do or die!

“You are old Father David
And your hair has grown white
And as you have aged
You have lost your insight”
“When I was young Father David” , replied to his son
“I smoked marijuana and had lots of fun”
“But now I am wiser
And very austere
And when poor people cry
Why I trun a deaf ear! “
“You are lost” said the youth “ I think you are wrong”
“didn’t you ever listen to a Beatles song?”
“Why of course” replied The Old Man
with smirk on his face !
“I know much more now
About the human race”
“See, in my youth, I believed
that Free Markets were king.
To me the clanking of money
Had a nice ring”
“But now I am older
and see the clock on the wall.
I want to guide others to
Atone for it all”
“the Poor People mean well
I know that they care
But they eat all the wrong foods
And never comb their hair”
“their parents are lacking
the poor luck of birth
my kids are much smarter
they choose to be born on FIRST!”
“I feel bad for the unshaven ,
the unclean, and uncouth
and that is the insight I had not in my youth”
“Now go away child, I have things to do!”
“Much more important than talking to you! “
“ A column to write, I have a deadine”
“something profound, something sublime!”
“eureka! I now know what it shall be!
How to chew all your food, how to eat every pea”
“ Fore what people need
is to listen to …….ME!”

Gone is the place,
empty the space.
Done is the race,
rest is in place.

Secret money is insidious,
Election buying invidious,
Outrageously rash
Are the lashings of Cash,
With results that are perfidious!

A mass destruction weapon, now,
Is a German flatulent Cow,
Methane gas eruption
Means deadly disruption,
And that scent only Cows can endow.

No Millionaire's gotten the "Chair",
So executions aren't fair,
Affluence buys the best
Who'll defend you with zest,
Drives Justice lovers to despair!

"It runs through every human heart",
As each, if caring, shares the Art.....
With inherent Forgiveness and abiding Grace,
Whether the "Object" has White or a Colored Face.
Each Other Is a Story....Each Deserves to Be Told,
Whether Delightfully Young or Disturbingly Old.
Conservative or Liberal...Each May still have Heart,
We must Know enough to Care....Even Only if in Part.

Reset and lose all of Spain's charm?
Europe's clock will end doing harm,
This scheme is sedition
Maintain your tradition,
Efficiency? View with alarm!

The Living Wage should be the goal,
It's reasonable on the whole,
But resisters say
The idea's outré,
And would take a terrible toll.

This claptrap is pure balderdash
Untrue and resolutely rash,
Min wages are often
A pure ploy to soften
A salary that brings in real cash!

first you say you will,
and then you won't
and then you say you do
and then you don't
you're undecided now
so what are you gonna do?

Farting cows blew up the barn,
You couldn't make up that yarn.
And may I make a 4-Mel complaint,
That a cancer agent my cola does taint,
And the FDA gives not a darn.

Thank you Mark B for what you're reading,
Grist for the mill of men of breeding,
Gems that provoke,
An occasional joke,
Wise readers should not be unheeding.

A tip of my hat Mr Steyer,
We are getting down to the wire,
Pollution far ranging
The climate is changing,
And prospects are getting more dire!

While Dixie stays red, little hope,
They're hogtied with that Repub rope,
'Til White-Black unite
The future ain't bright,
They'll slide on that slippery slope!

A virulent vice-POTUS, he,
Deferment loving Dick Cheney,
It cannot be denied,
Inextricably tied
To Georgie for eternity!

Lyndon merits a far better fate,
His domestic law passage was great,
Inextricable jam,
That briar patch, Vietnam,
Really lowers the high spot he'd rate.

What a wonderful piece.

One person, one voice.

Powerful.

It is a fantasy that a group can attain independence and govern
themselves better with growing prosperity and economic and social
justice. Experience hasn't confirmed this line of thinking.
Pakistan was created in the hope of managing their affairs better
than undivided India would. It didn't work out. Bangladesh
followed the sample example and broke away from Pakistan
to become another mess. Slovakia became independent and is not
doing any better. When there are problems, there always are,
the tendency is to blame the government at the center. After
independence the problems, albeit different ones, crop up.
Britain had had many scots as prime minister, the latest being
Gordon Brown, who could have addressed the problems.
At macro level, developed countries, USA, Europe, Japan, are having
problem of adequate growth to create decent jobs. There is angst
in USA and Europe including UK. Somehow Scottish leaders believe
the solution is self governance. It may not be. There are other forces
shaping up the economies from North America to Europe. Scots
will find that out after independence.

Better:
-Old leftover (rustic country bread) toasted and cut into cubes
-Zolfini beans (substitute cannellini or northern white beans)
-Vegetable broth
-Olive oil
-2 whole cloves garlic
-Cavalo Nero or substitute collard greens, destemmed
-Parsley
-Carrots
-Onions
-Pancetta (optional, substitute prosciutto)
-1 or 2 pieces of tomato
-Potatoes cut into 1" cubes
PREPARATION AHEAD
l. Cook the beans. Take some out and crush them to make a "crema."
2. Make a vegetable broth using water, onions, carrots, celery and parsley.
3. Toast bread and cut into cubes
4. Precook the potatoes
Chop together to make a "battuto", greens, parsley, carrots, onions, and pancetta (if used).
Fry the garlic cloves in oil, add the battuto and fry until softened.
Add the bean "crema", pieces of tomato, and vegetable broth and cook together for three hours.
When almost done, add potatoes and beans.
Put the toasted bread chunks into the bottom of a lasagna pan or something of the like and cover with the soup. Heat again before serving until the bread becomes hot and mushy.
Serve in pasta bowls with oil poured over the top.
