The One Percent,
Just need to vent,
'Cause they feel abused,
With their egos bruised,
So stop with the dissent

I horripilate at the thought
Of erectile pumps being bought,
This vampire's device,
Neither naughty or nice,
A ripoff of Medicare wrought.

They lie at the drop of a hat,
For lies no requiescat
The twisting of meaning,
To them, not demeaning,
In falsity is where they're at!

Emma Lazarus:

The New Colossus

"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The only people in our nation who do not derive from immigrants are the ones we stole the land from, the native American.

That black POTUS lost Boehner's trust,
A trust which is not free of rust,
Immigration is out,
Makes old white men pout,
It's frustrate Obama or bust!

There's nothing like coal flavored water
If you're an Industry supporter,
It's fine for the "takers",
Champagne for the "makers"
And each minion who's their applauder!

Does David Brooks like David Brooks?
Does he view himself with friendly looks?
Does entitlement slashing
Also food stamp bashing
Inform him on what really cooks?

The one percent won't touch my heart,
More aggressive, conniving, not smart,
Not eager to pay
Their share of the way,
And feel that they're a breed apart!

Oh Lordy, Scott Brown again!
Time to pick up my pen.
Here's something I did
for his last senate bid,
(Penguin Plunge! Your moment of zen.)

From a couple years back:

Scott Brown's prognosis is rough,
so he'll campaign all in the buff.
Liz Warren's a dame with a keen sense of shame,
who thinks her great speeches enough.

A poem -
Things by Jorge Luis Borges
My walking-stick, small change, key-ring,
The docile lock and the belated
Notes my few days left will grant
No time to read, the cards, the table,
A book, in its pages, that pressed
Violet, the leavings of an afternoon
Doubtless unforgettable, forgotten,
The reddened mirror facing to the west
Where burns illusory dawn. Many things,
Files, sills, atlases, wine-glasses, nails,
Which serve us, like unspeaking slaves,
So blind and so mysteriously secret!
They’ll long outlast our oblivion;
And never know that we are gone.

Take up the White Man's burden,
And reap his old reward--
The blame of those ye better
The hate of those ye guard--
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light:--
"Why brought ye us from bondage,
Our loved Egyptian night?"

Kipling

Tune of “Let it Go” – album chart after Super Bowl edition

The snow stayed tame until after the game
That turned out sort-of swell
But still there was frustration
For the folks at the N-F-L
The poor bored folks at home cheered hearing Bruno play
And her brand new fans clamored for Renee

But when you look at album sales
A big smash sing-a-long never fails
No, no one else had any shot
Cold is still hot

Watch it grow, watch it grow!
Can’t ever hold Disney back
Let it grow, lots of dough!
Disney throws trends out of whack
There was lots of hype for Bruno and Renee
The results are heeeere
The game didn’t matter much anyway

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've got no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!!

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out

His gripe against FOX news is legitimate. Fox presents
distorted version of Obama's policies and action. What
Fox practices is not journalism. It is called propaganda.
A distinction should always be made between the two.
Ruper Murdoch's journalistic malfeasance was also
exposed in England with his newspapers hacking into
the phones and bribing police to get stories transgressing
the privacy and presenting to the readers in distorted
fashion. Roger Ailes thrives at Fox because Murdoch
approves his tactics. Recent biography of Ailes reveal
the extent of control of the journalists within Fox by
having a trusted aide present at the meeting and noting
the journalists crossing the official line. Those journalists
trying to be objective and tell the truth get intimidating calls
from the boss.

There are many jobs where you work on one year contracts

no matter how skilled and praised your work is.

What controversies do most Professors get into so often

that they need to have tenure - few and far between.

Who else has tenure besides Professors ?
