We need more minds like yours today,
With Understanding and much to Say.
You bring the Presence of needed Voice
For silent masses who have No Choice.
Those with Power don't Have to care
No matter how much suffering's there.
I represent a Quiet core
Of those who wish they could do More.
But I'm looking toward my Final Hour
As one who knows he has no Power.
My Voice was silenced years ago
By Age and inadequacy, but you know....
I look in this world to those....like You
To bring us the Power to help us DO.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

I Can't Belieb It's Not Butler!

A Poem By Caleb Boone

He threw eggs at the neighbours,
And drove his sportscar drunk.

His hairdo sticks up high,
Like the tail of a skunk.

He should instead have whisked the eggs,
With a little milk and butter.

An omelette for his household guests,
Served by his Anaheim Butler.

Have a Dovely.

Sincerely yours,
Caleb Boone.

The sludge that's in your water tanks,
Moved my New York visit down in the ranks.
My tummy now is out of kilter,
Thinking 'bout that lack of a filter,
So for now it's just, no thanks.

Ask not for whom the door revolved,
A lot of money is likely involved,
For regulating can set one free,
To then charge a very high fee,
Working for those whose problems you solved.

I dreamt I had a leaky app
Sending secrets to the spies
Through the crowded cyber skies.
But when finally I awoke,
'Twas just a harmless joke--
A passing nightmare in my nap.

With mysteries I've had my fill,
For believers I've no ill will,
The Olympus bunch
I think on a hunch,
Are my choice, I stick to them still.

A saving grace name, Middle Class,
For low income folk who en masse
On crumbs must survive
While the one percent thrive
On buckets and buckets of brass!

Oxfam would gore Scarlett,
And label her a harlot,
For her SodaStream bubbles,
So she's having some troubles,
This famous lovely starlet.

No reason to be paranoid Larry!
The "Rich" You don't want to bury.
Just tax them a lot,
and take what they've got!

Others need more.
They vote by the score.
So, tax away and then some day
The "Rich" will be gone but the "Poor will live on!

Been there, done that. Pete Townsend and the Who "Won't Get Fooled Again"

"We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
...
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

I'll put my trust in LaPierre
Although he is full of hot air,
The Gun makers minion
With total dominion
Of this Congress with lots to spare!

Poem with probability = 0.980263

Their Repub minions are aware
That the Oligarchs just don't care,
Their nights aren't lost
Even tempest tossed,
If Mother Hubbard's cupboard's bare!

Poem with probability = 0.978918

Lighten up, Andrew Cuomo, and dare
Make the ultra-rich pay their fair share,
It would be truly fine
With a soupçon of spine,
Sign a tax they could easily bear!

What else should De Blasio do,
Alienate each New York Jew?
Critics are unreal
For De B I feel,
Critics of what he did are few!

Of truth there's often not a kernel,
When one reads the Wall Street Journal,
Playing the reader for a patsy,
By comparing to a Nazi,
And keeping up their lies infernal.

good to see you again, and off birding sites ...
but reality bites, and cowboy rites
are prone to exaggeration and proliferation
as long as media goes for offbeat shows.
Not so strange that "home on the range"
meets Frost at no cost
to critical acclamation ...

Hooray for Tesori, Scanlan and Mayer - class acts all around.

Tune of Thoroughly Modern Millie

There are schools that have rules
They’re not mad, they’re not fools
Kids pick their shows ‘cause they love the tunes.
While the scores may be so fizzy and delectable
Some characters push limits of “respectable”
But it’s fine now –

Everything today is happy at Dalton
Rewrites went down breezily
Every student there is full of good cheer
All resolved quite easily

What got them worried was / so hurriedly fixed
The writers rushed in and now the show’s no longer nixed

Have you seen the stories there in the papers
Kids were inconsolable
Now Jeanine and Dick have made it all great
Joy is uncontrollable

Goodbye to blues again
They’ve lifted, oh wow
The curtain’s going up
On Thoroughly Dalton Millie now.

Sympathy for the Toffs? Not from me!
For them I have no empathy,
All of these drones, en masse,
Live off the working class,
Their titles,lands, got guilefully.

A Paul Williams - Macklemore mash-up, based on that blog wind-up

Tune of Rainbow Connection

Why are there so many knocks towards the Grammys
Why’s the right fit to be tied
Music’s universal, so why a delusion
What could be so wrong with pride

Why do they tackle the moment with Macklemore
Singing with Madge on TV
That proves we need it, a rainbow correction
For rights and for equality

Knowing what we know of the facts about the medieval disparity
of wealth in this country, knowing those facts, we have only
to put these questions:
1) Is it not axiomatic that in a democracy all forms of power
must be circumscribed?
2) Is money not a form of power?
Well then put 2 and 2 together!
An appropriate democratic limit on wealth must be
instituted.
Here's a reasonable formula for it:
No person may control wealth exceeding what
a minimum wage worker could earn in a thousand years.

This is really beautiful art, and it clearly brings the elements to mind well. But - from a NYC viewpoint - in this day of “movies on stage sell” wouldn’t New Yorkers say best to sell associations with Babs, any connection at all? :)

Tune of You Are Woman I Am Man

You’re a woman, you’re a man
We have got to convey that as best we can
Here’s the art idea we’ve got
It’s appealing while it’s dealing with the plot

We need aspects of each sex
Or we’ll lost all our crowds to the multiplex
Is there much more explanation to tell
You’re a woman, you’re a man – we'll sell!

- [cynical New York advisors]
Isn’t this a bit too subtle now
Come on guys, get in a huddle now
So if Yentl isn’t singing, dear
Films on stage still means ka-chinging, dear
Do hot titles need great poster art?
Why can’t they be pre-sold?
It’s a feeling, oy vey, just a feeling

Here’s what we need to have sink in
This was the Babs film with Patinkin
Each Hadassah and B'nei Akiva girl
Knows that Yentl’s a Yeshivah girl

Does it take more explanation than that?
She is woman, she is man – go chat!

this is not news worthy
go to a black salon
we do everyone
better

The penal colony system of the U.S., with its
privatized offshoots and with its draconian
administration, is testimony to an underlying evil.
The 99 percent are not merely ignored, a significant
percentage are treated as plague ridden refuse.
When in the course of human events........

BOTTOM LINE -
It is all out of control.
Let kids be kids
Let sport be sport.
But I guess we are never going back.

Poem with probability = 0.243414

How sad.

Why can't these children, that is what they are,

just play as many sports as they like - why must it

be one sport only.

How can a 14 year old be expected to know what

College she may decide to attend when she is

making the judgement based upon her present

ability in the sport ? What if she has a severe

injury to her knees - is the offer still valid -

will the scholarship still be waiting for her ?

What if she gets sick of playing soccer 24/7 ?

The Sporting world has gone completely mad

and does not even know why.
