Always a stranger, never at home
A Yank in Great Britain. El Greco in Rome.
An elm in the desert, a tulip in stone
Always a stranger never at home.
Always a stranger with no place to rest
Asleep on the sidewalk, an overbooked guest
A worn suitcase sofa. A newspaper nest.
Always a stranger with no place to rest.
Always a stranger, a man out of time
A Turk in Armenia, French in Indochine
Never in step, either front or behind
Always a stranger who's run out of time.
Always a stranger, a face with no name
Machine-damaged mail, a stake but no claim
admonished to silence and cower in shame
Always a stranger, a face with no name
Always a stranger, alien at birth
with dreams drawn from every corner of earth
uncertain of value, discounted of worth
Always a stranger, alien at birth.
Always a stranger, never a friend
A thread but no needle and nothing to mend
Not reaching a finish but only the end
Always a stranger, never a friend.
Always a stranger, nowhere to belong
No voice for a lyric. No tune for a song.
No chance to be lucky nor right to be wrong
Always a stranger, nowhere to belong.

Randy Adams, 2013

There's that oldie:

Hello, I must be phoning
I must get seats
Where are the deets
I must be phoning

The greatest fest
By now you've guessed
I do not jest
So now I'd best be phoning.

The "dog on the roof " gave him fits,

4 Haikus from my 10 year old that loves to write poetry:
It is rushhour
people bustling in everywhere
to go to work now

honks, beeps, screams, no peace.
no one can sleep, anywhere.
Rush to get to work.

Alarms going off
work beginning everywhere
a lot of traffic

honks are uncontrollable
no peace or quiet

The Israelis must be thinking of the saying,
"No good deed goes unpunished".

Normally, when there is ethnic cleansing,
the cleansers kill as many of the cleansees as possible.

But, as a kindness, the Israelis politely told
the Palestinians to leave or they would be killed.

The positive response by the Palestinians
was overwhelming, almost all left.

The result has been, for the Israelis,
nothing but trouble since then.

To be sure, future ethnic cleansers will remember
the Israeli experience and act accordingly.

This turns out to be a brilliant move looking towards the Tonys, whether it was planned or not - and with BEAUTIFUL having such award potential, but the news cycle having turned to so many other newer shows:

Tune of SO FAR AWAY

So far, no way
Didn’t really want to live all the pain any more
Still they held out hope
They’d see her face at their door
Hoping she would show up

Heard them hope and pray
"Could she come in April,
Then do chat shows through May"
Meanwhile, they got a push
From all the stories that say
“We wish she would come, but she’ll stay far away”

One more push about moving towards the prizes
No new press since they’re not really new
So how can they make sure that interest rises
A real big event, that’s what they can do

She stayed
So far away
So far away
So it’s now an event that gets great coverage today
No more “far away”

Commute

Early morning tides
Look alive grab a seat
You'll be stuck for a while

"The closing doors please"
Squeeze your bodies in the can
We'll hop on the next

CYCLE the air in
Brooklyn now. No need for the
Slave Theater now.

Strangers

The bed becomes our
play pin Lips lock and it rocks
Wait do I know you?

The shimmers of spring
Bound the passion of two souls
Leaping life unfound

Shapeless. Make this. Lie.
Move like the winds little spy.
Dance and dance. Goodbye.
